Counselor
Didi is a 10-year Tucson Unified educator, but is in her third year at Magee as the school counselor. Didi previously worked at White Elementary and Mission View Elementary.
Originally from Ohio, Didi found herself moving to the Old Pueblo due to family. And she’s taken advantage of everything the Grand Canyon state has to offer. Didi loves to hike and bike and has even competed in the Tour de Tucson and hiked the Grand Canyon. She’s also an avid traveler and loves to watch her two high school-aged sons play in athletics.
At work, her favorite thing is working with the students. She loves being able to provide the support needed to help students transition from elementary and being there for major life transitions.
Art Teacher
Ana was born in Colombia, but has called Tucson home since she was 7 years old. The second-year art teacher has an extensive hands-on resume. At just 9 years old, Ana started creating art at Romero House Ceramics Studio.
Besides working on ceramics at a young age, she also did some metal smithing. She also previously worked at the Tucson Museum of Art as a jeweler and ceramicist. Ana loves being able to work on three-dimensional art and started her own business in 2011.
At Magee, Ana’s favorite aspect of teaching is when the students get into their creative zone, lose track of time, and get in touch with their creative sides. The Northern Arizona University graduate loves that middle school students are still receptive to new materials and concepts.
School Safety
Heather was born and raised in Austin, but has been a resident of Tucson for 19 years. The last three years, she’s worked at Magee Middle School.
Outside of work, Heather’s go-to hobby is weightlifting. A fun fact about the school safety officer is that she lost 170 lbs. simply through adding daily 7-minute workouts and cutting out sugar.
At Magee, one of Heather’s most important tasks is building relationships with students. Having a layer of trust with the student population leads to her being more in tune with what’s happening on the campus. Heather’s favorite part of working at the eastside school is how welcoming everyone is and how supportive the staff is.
